Organic Milling Wheat Grain – Maris Wigeon

We grow an older English wheat variety, Maris Wigeon, which is well suited to organic farming and has been traditionally prized for thatching straw as well as for breadmaking.

Whole organic wheat grains in larger quantities. Suitable both for home milling and small mills. We currently supply a number of water mills in the South-West. If you run a water or wind mill and are looking for larger quantities please contact us.

*** Some of the current batch of Whole Grain Maris wigeon we are selling has more broken grains than usual. Instead of the sample showing an even colour from the the golden skins of the grain it has a mottled pattern where the white centres of the broken grains are exposed. This is due perhaps to the threshing machine being over a hundred years old! We have been milling and baking (and eating) it very happily but the bags may be marked with a shorter shelf life than usual ***
